Recording from microphone

Most sound cards provide the ability to receive sound input from a microphone through the sound card microphone port. This is useful for recording voice or sounds to your computer.

1. Check Your Hardware: If your microphone has never worked, or it stopped working, first check the physical connection of the microphone. Verify that it is firmly plugged into the microphone port instead of the headphone or speaker port. If you are not sure which port is correct, you can check the sound card to see if it is marked (sometimes with a picture of a microphone), you can use a process of elimination, check the documentation that came with your hardware, or contact the hardware manufacturer.

2. Run All Sound Recorder Vista.

3. select the recording source. Select the microphone device, adjust the recording volume for the highest possible performance.

4. Click "Record" button, and then speak into the microphone. If the microphone is plugged into the correct jack, the wave patterns on the display should move up and down. If it does not move, sound is not making it through your microphone. The recording is the destination sound file you selected.

User Reviews for All Sound Recorder Vista

# --- I was looking for such thing in order to record whatever is playing on speakers/Headphones and its here. Installed, Registered and started working fine without any extra effort. Thanks again -- Comment by Farrukh

# ----Tried it on XP. Despite it says ¡°Vista¡±, it works on XP as well. Downloading and registration went easy, registration key is included in the package. Options screen has many empty pages, when I opened it first time, but after restarting the app it started to work correctly. What I like about it is automatic pausing when silence is detected.---------------------------------------------Comment by Volodymyr Frytskyy

# I have been looking for a sound card recorder that works with realtek audio chipsets on win 7 ultimate 64¡and this one is it! works great, only issue¨Cthe ONLY issue was the keycode refused to paste into the slot¡ªso i had to type it in. Sound quality is nearly flawless when recording from a streaming site like playlist¡this will be a great way to get legal, free music! ----------------Comment by Jack S.

# Installed perfect on WinXP SP3. Was able to register under my own name. Pretty flawless recording, surprisingly excellent quality, even on lower MP3 encoding settings. Definitely agree that the better English would help give this program more credibility. One thing though, the ¡°Scheduler¡± doesn¡¯t work properly, it looks like it just writes to the built-in Windows Task Scheduler, so when it runs the task, it just uses the default settings of the program since it starts an entirely new instance of the program (44khz, 16 bit WAV file). So if you¡¯re not careful, you¡¯ll end up creating a huge file if you planned on recording say, an hour long internet radio station.---------------------------- Comment by Scottino

# Excellent program ¨C small file, easy download, installation, registration (use any name and the regsitration key provided). I especially like that it does not use a lot memory, it has plenty of features and options including MP3 output, sample rate, bits per sample. From my initial test I found that ¡°What-you-hear-is-what-you-get¡± ¨C using the default settings. Output was much better than I expected. The interface shows digital bars when recording, how much space is available for recording and size of file created by current recording as well as duration. I haven¡¯t quite figured out how to use the timer/scheduler but this will be useful for unattended recordings.------------------ Comment by Bern-Dog # Sound Recorder Review
